Work Package 5: Technology Up Scaling

Work Package Description:
The general objective for this WP is to evaluate several manufacturing processes devoted to Composites and Aluminum parts and Joining, and the requirements for up-scaling in order to meet the high volume production needs for the commercial manufacturing of automotive components and to provide engineering support to scale up facilities and tooling.
WP5 will study how the different lightweight materials manufacturing technologies investigated in the previous WPs can be up scaled from a laboratory environment to an industrial environment. Within the EVolution project the Proof-of-Concept prototyping in the form of demonstrator components will be performed in WP6.
Therefore specific objectives for this WP5 are:

- Confirmation of industrial feasibility for the technologies chosen in WP2, WP3 and WP4 for the manufacturing of the Proof-of-Concept Prototypes.
- Provide with equipment definition, process parameters and material need descriptions for the manufacturing of the Proof-of-Concept Prototypes.
- Generation of industrial guidelines for up-scaling the different lightweight materials manufacturing processes and lightweight parts manufacturing technologies.
